The importance of correct core training

For those of you who are more involved in the sports performance and conditioning arena, you probably have heard the saying: “You can’t fire a cannon from a canoe.” It’s a term used when explaining the importance of having a strong core and being able to perform movements with both maximum exertion and control. But, what does this term mean exactly?

What it means is that the canoe is your core and the cannon is your arms and legs and thus that you can’t have powerful arms and legs if you don’t have a powerful core. Read more ...
